Do you ever feel like you just need to “be” with God? Ever long for a weekend where you could turn off your outside stresses and focus on yourself? If you have answered yes to either of these questions, than I encourage you to consider being part of a Walk To Emmaus retreat.

What is the Walk To Emmaus? It is a 72 hour spiritual retreat that will give you an opportunity to truly expand and enhance your relationship with Jesus Christ. The walk to Emmaus is an experience of Christian spiritual renewal and formation that begins with a three-day short course in Christianity. It is an opportunity to meet Jesus Christ in a new way as God’s grace and love is revealed to you through other believers.

Ask someone that has gone on a Walk about their experience and you are likely to hear something like “it changed my life” or “it brought me closer to Christ”. The objective of Emmaus is to inspire, challenge, and equip the local church members for Christian action in their homes, churches, communities and places of work. Emmaus lifts up a way for our grace-filled lives to be lived and shared with others.

What is it like to go on a Walk?

My name is Jeff Corser and I attended the Walk to Emmaus 18 years ago. More than 150 current and former members of our church have also participated in a Walk weekend and that includes much of our church staff. Some went long before I did and in other parts of Texas or other states - and some as recent as last fall.

What makes this retreat weekend different than others? Prior to my Walk weekend, my relationship with God and Jesus Christ was mainly something residing in my head through years of church and Bible Study. The Walk to Emmaus changed that relationship to something I feel in my heart with all my soul. I truly found a friend in Jesus that weekend and experienced the Body of Christ like I never would have believed possible.

The goal of the Emmaus weekend is to inspire and equip church members to become Christian leaders in their families, church communities, and local communities; knowing and feeling Christ by your side daily. For all too long, I was the once a week Christian that sat in the stands and cheered the team on Sunday mornings. I’ll tell you, it’s a lot more fun being on the field and playing the game every day!

If you have any questions or interest about attending a Walk yourself, feel free to call me (972-977-9034) or my wife, Robin (214-546-1993) or any of the other 100+ members of our church that have been part of this special, one-time retreat opportunity.
