Joy Turner, Interim Director of Children's Spiritual Formation

Joy was born into a family of ministers and church workers. She gave her heart to Jesus as her Savior at age 5 and at 18 fully committed herself to God’s will for her life. The next fall she met a young man named David Turner. She and Pastor David have been married for 38 years, have 3 children and 3 wonderful children by marriage, and 9 precious grandchildren.

Joy has worked for several churches, taught school, and worked for non-profits outside the church. She brings a wealth of experience from teaching Life Groups/Sunday School classes for both children and adults. Joy has worked with Youth and Children’s Choirs, Christian Camps, Women’s Ministry, and held many church leadership positions. She served as the Director of Christian Education for all ages at First Irving UMC in Dallas and Interim Children’s Minister at Floral Heights UMC in Wichita Falls.

Joy graciously agreed to serve as the Interim Director of Children’s Spiritual Formation for First Rowlett while God raises up just the right person to fill the position permanently.  Please pray for her, for our children, for our volunteers, and for our search for a permanent Director.
